What are Goals and Objectives? It is easy to get confused and mix up Goals and Objectives. Both describe desired outcomes, though serve different purposes.


Goals: refer to achievements and end-results of effort and enterprise.

Objectives: are specific well-timed targets achieved within a Goal.


Goals are broader and general, tending to cover longer period of time. Where as, Objectives are specific and measured, normally covering shorter period of time. There can be several Objectives within a Goal.

First, have a definite, clear practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends; wisdom, money, material, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end
